Sitting People

"Sitting People" finds moments of rest in mid-1980s Moscow and its suburbs, all captured with the LOMO-compact-automat on black-and-white film. On benches, in courtyards, and at the edges of public space, my subjects pause — waiting, talking, or simply sitting out the day. In these stillnesses the ordinary rhythm of Soviet life becomes visible: patience, endurance, and the small communities that formed wherever people stopped to sit. The grain of the film and the toy camera's soft focus wrap these quiet scenes in the texture of memory.
